If you do not know how to use VMware or CUCM, then this text will be of little help to you. This text describes what worked with me without any trouble when I’ve tried it, it worked from the 1st time so maybe many other configurations may work also.
1st step you need to create a new and empty virtual machine (Guest Machine):
I chose the Typical Configuration, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3 as the guest operating system. Used ”Bridged networking”*, and created a 72GB HDD (and did not allocate space).
2nd Editing the virtual machine to your needs.
Since I only have 1GB of RAM, I gave this Virtual Machine a 512MB of RAM. (If you have more, then give it more)
I changed the CD-ROM from use ”physical device” to use ”ISO image”
3rd and last step was to run the Virtual Machine, boot from CD-ROM and start the installation. The iso will install both the OS and the CUCM (as an appliance), you do not need to install any OS (Linux or windows) and after the installation finishes you will not have much access to the OS; you must access the CUCM through a web browser from a different machine (your host machine or any other machine the in network) so make sure you know its IP address and passwords.
I hope this info will be helpful to you,
With best Regards
